Photoshop Skills

In the last media lesson, we were required to recreate a Digi pack which was given to us in class and had to use Photoshop . In order to do this we had to take photographs which looked similar to the the ones of those on the Digi pack and then edit them using photo shop to make them look similar.



I already had experience in using photo shop, so this did not complicate things whilst recreating the digipack,

although i prefer my final design of the digipack, it would have been better to have my own twist on the front cover by using different angles whilst taking pictures of the person standing.when creating the digipack i learned that when taking an image i know im going to edit in photoshop, i should take it in a blank or solid coloured background, this makes it easier to add layers.

i was recreating the cover of a music group called the 'lemon heads'. Here is what the original digi pack looked like:

Firstly we had taken a photo shot of a person, posing similarly to the person on the cover of the Digi pack so that i could recreate it more accurately, also we had added red lighting while taking the photo so that this would help when i had to edit it on photo shop. 

After we had taken the photo's needed we had to import the image into photo shop in order to begin editing. The first thing i had to do was to darken the background light as the original image i had taken was to bright.

I then  added a filter to the image in order to make it the correct style of the Digi pack. I used the stamp filter which allowed me to choose two colours for the image. I did red and a light pink like in the original digipack:

After adding the filter, I had to create a new layer to add all of the spotted outline around the edge of the image. I used a splatter brush from the brush tool to do this and changed it accordingly to as how big or small the splatters were:
