Evaluation Q.4

Evaluation Q.2

How effective is the combination of your main production and your ancillary texts?

http://prezi.com/txdztqk3vziq/copy-of-yasin-a2-media-evaluation-question-3/

For my main product I created a Music video for the song " Gym Motivation " By PowerMusclesGym, this song is quiet energetic and makes you feel motivated. In terms of my music video I feel I slightly did reflect this tone within the music video. When it came to producing my Digi Pack and my website i knew I had to combine the Three products and connote the same emotion throughout. So when producing the Digi pack i felt that the overall theme had to represent a kind of energetic feeling similar to the music video so I included abstract flares of light to connote this within the Digi pack.
I felt that this reflected not only the tone of the song but represented the artists it shows that their music is vibrant and also helped my Digi Pack stand out.

When Producing my website I knew I had to keep my other two products in mind my Digi pack and my music video. For the background of my website I used a similar theme to the Digi Pack with the flares of light shinning through, this mirrors the front cover of my Digi pack and the use of the colors. On my homepage i also included 3 small recognisable icons, of Twitter, Facebook and Blogger. Each of these is related to the artist. Blogger is a direct link to my work and I explained why i was making the website. The twitter and facebook are links to my artists and his group This allows user to get access to all the information they could ever need, the purpose then of the website it to both advertise and inform, this is why i felt it was necessary to include the outside links.

Gathering images of the artists was no problem as I personally knew them so I asked for their permission if I could personally take some professional pictures of them to include in my work  For me it was crucial to have pictures of the artist because they independent most fans want to get to know the artist as their support is more important simply because they are newcomers and have  has less fans than a mainstream artist, this also ties in to synergy, the brand image needs to be carried out throughout each of my productions not just one or there would be no continuity. So this is why i included the pictures within my Digi Pack and my website.

I think by making my homepage simple with a consistent theme throughout is a easy way of navigation, like other websites changing their overall theme when a new album releases, my website does not need to do so as I have kept it consistent all the way through also as the artists music all link together the overall theme reflects all of their songs and the artists.

Overall I think my  3 products compliment each other. The digipak is a means of getting the music out ( and making a little money in the process), I used to show the energetic feel within the Digi Pack.
My music video is used to help promote my artists and promote their song which also in turn promotes the album.

The website was used to inform people who already knew PowerMusclesGym Music and give them access and information about the artist, also to give them a sense of belonging. Adding on this also ties the other two products together by having a page dedicated to my own creation.

Evaluation Q.1

In what ways does your media product use, challenge or develop on forms and conventions of real media products?

My music video  the song 'Gym Motivation'  develops some of the conventions of a music video. I have decided to do this as i wanted to take a conventional approach with mine, my music video 'Gym motivation' tells a story, a narrative running through it about gym motivation where the characters in the music video come inside weak and useless and at the end of the music video they feel better and with smiles on there faces as the song ends.

Within my music video I used some of these conventions such as live music and lip syncs.  I found examples of music videos that  used this type of conventions and these conventions show in many music video's in which I looked at and seemed to be a common feature in most music videos.

When producing a music video you have to think about the elements in which you want to include into the music video, this is the foundation of the music video and what you base the whole filming and editing around. In music video there are certain conventions you have to incoperate into the musiv video such as cutting shots to the beat etc. If you do not include these features within the music video then the music video looses a sense of rythm and possibily have no meaning this could lead to the audience in feeling disconnected and not being able to understand it.

Evalutation Q.3

What Have You Learnt From The Audience Feedback

Within my audience feedback I had found that it was successful and many of the students within my class are within the same catergory as my target audience. As part of my project I had given out a questionaire for them to fill in based on my music video also as part of this process we all went around looking at each others production giving constructive feedback on thier music videos.

From what I had received from the class in terms of constructive feedback was both negative and positive, feedback I got back was that some of my shots too short and needed to add more as they had cut very quickly to another shot, this had led me to re shoot some of my shots. However by doing this it had improved my shots by far and the overall quality of my music video.

I also asked my audience if they had ever heard of the artists PMG? ( Power Muscles Gym)

This is the result I got: (Click To Enlarge The Chart Below)

8 out of 10 people did not know of this artist so this put me at an advantage on how to market as an artist.

Another question I asked is did you like the music video and would you change anything ?

The majority of people had left this blank due to the fact that people are too polite to say otherwise or to criticize however from the few people who had replied said that they were unsure about the last few shots as they were quick and too fast paced to understand what was happening.
Having the audience feeback I found was very helpful, It has allowed me to improve and adjust my product to fit my target audience .

As for my Digi Pack the responses to the question ' Do You Think My Digi Pack was to a high standard' showed that overall the audience feedback was happy with the Digi Pack. Many responses that I had received was that it was to a 'high' or 'good standard'. This has given me a greater sense of confidence as I learnt that I was able to link core themes behind my Digi Pack production and my music production and my audience who both saw that was a link between the two.

Website Planning - Philosophy

1. Website purpose

i. Promoting the artist to a wider audience and to existing fans, by making it attractive and accessible.

ii. Identifying artist style and persona through colour themes, fonts and images.

2. Website audience

i. The users that would be on my website may include; fans of my artist, interested people (such as music critics, journalists, reviewers).

3. Website marketing

i. There are several ways I aim to attract my audience.

· Advertising – this will be my essential device to attract consumers to my artist, posters that show my artists new album release and his new video will be shown across London and England, online posters on websites such as Facebook, Twitter, Myspace and Tumblr.

· Word of mouth – using social network websites like Facebook, Twitter etc, to send links and information about new releases to friends and other fans, this creates a buzz around my artist.

· Behind the scenes – Special video preview, a short clip of video in production will excite and invite fans, photos from video shoot also will interest fans and create an anticipation of what's to come.

SITE MAP

Website Research Analysis

I have highlighted the key features of websites that I have looked at and analysed as being key aspects to a website, and what kinds of things I'd want to create for my website such as; one font, title, pictures, links, navigation bars, 'community' etc.

Website introduction

First thing we did was look at a website on "wix.com"

We looked at an actual website by 'Dean Waite', he came into our lesson and explained the ideas behind the different aspects of the website.
'I made the background white to make my illustrations more significant'.
http://www.wix.com/deanwaite/dean-waite-illustrations

Our teacher then told us to create a mock website for the Stoke Newington schools music compilation cd.

Production Filming

I filmed the last few shots today and they were successful, the location I filmed in was at the gym in mary land. I had managed to film shots within one take however some problems did occur whilst filming the last shots such ass the actors that were meant to be in my music video did not show up, so this was time consuming as I  had a limited time frame to get everything done.

This caused major problems as I needed the actors in my music video so i decided to get another set of actors to be in my music video instead, this meant that I had to re-film certain shots in which the original actors were previously in.

production obstacles

27/02/2012

Many problems had occurred during the editing process of my production, when importing the footage onto my computer at home I had managed to cut the clips using 'Windows Movie Maker' however this was a mistake as during this process I changed the codec of the footage to ' WMV ' (Windows Media Video) format.

This meant that when opening the footage onto the school computers the footage would not open, so this delayed the time I had to edit as our media class was set a deadline for the following week for everything to be completed.

To overcome this problem I contacted my music artist and asked if they still had the footage on the camera that I had loaned from them, this was another problem as they only had limited footage left on the camera so this meant I had to organize with my artist a day to re-film what was missing so that I could edit the music video before the deadline set.

Editing

So far in my production my editing has been going really well during the process of my editing I did struggle to add effects and slow down and speed up certain clips within the music video but I overcame this problem by reaserching on google on how to use the editing tools etc.

I have nearly finished editing on what footage I have, however I need to film a few more shots to complete my music video.

Audience Feedback Questionaire

Creating A Audience Feeback Questionaire

As part of the project I will need to create a questionaire for my audience this will help me to find out what my target audience is and what they like. This will also provide feedback for my music video and give some more constructive feedback on my music video which hasn't been fully completed yet.
This means that as it is still in progress, allowing me to make changes more easily, finding out more about my target will help me target them, if I were to market my artist and thier work.

Second Day Of Filming

Today's Shoot went very well as everything was consistent throughout and I did not waste time whilst filming, however I did not get to film as many shots as I intended to shoot as my artist was on a tight scheduele and had to leave early, this put me in a difficult situation as he did not inform me this meant tht I had to put in an extra day to film the rest of the footage which also meant I was behind and not going according to my time plan.

Story Board

Rough Cut Feedback

On Friday 3/02/2012 I had uploaded the footage that I had onto the MAC computer and inserted all footage using Final Cut Pro this is the program in which I will be using to edit my music video. I also showed my class what I edited so far, the feedback was mostly positive however they mentioned that I had to film more shots as it was a little to short.

Feedback I received was:

  • Range Of shots I used was very good
  • The first 30-40 seconds of my footage looked really good but I needed more
  • Needs to be abit more clear

First Day Of Filming

24th January 2012

Today I filmed almost half of my footage, it was a success and I did not inccur any problems during the filming process, everything went well during filming and went according to plan. The first day of filming I had managed to get a range of shots, this puts me in a good position as I am ahead of scheduele so I have more time to edit when I have finished filming.

Finding A Time To Film Music Video

As it is the exam period, it has been very hard to find a time to film. During this time I have been going through the footage that I already have and getting it to cut to the beat and arranged it so that the footage I have not yet filmed will fit right in.

Meeting with my Artists

21st January 2012

As I personally know my aritsts I will be Meeting them at the gym to discuss my production with them and to ask permission to use the gym and if they would like to be in my music video as this will be easier for me as I do not have to get characters to play them.
I will be also be discussing when I will be filming the music video and arrange a time where both myself and my artists are free and I will be putting together a scedhuele so I could manage my time properly.

Gym Motivation Digi Pack

CD Tray- Digi Pack

Creating the Inner Panels For Digi Pack

Inner Panel One: TRACK LIST:

Inner Panel Two:

This is the original image I had taken of my artist and will then edit in photoshop.

Above here I have taken the Original image and zoomed it up close using the zoom tool in photoshop and have opened it up into a new layer. The zoomed up version of the image is what i will be using as my inner panel.

Here is my final inner page of my Digi Pack

Creating Digi Pack Back Cover

Original Photo which I took of my artist using a CANON HD
(High Definition) Picture Camera, I will be editing this using
'Adobe Photo Shop CS3'
I added a new layer to the background to the colour Black to match the
front cover of my digi-pack so i removed the grey cloth background which was on the original image
and replace it using the brush tool to colour in the background to black.

Within my back cover I used the text tool to insert quotes which my artists
says in the song' Gym Motivation', to make the text look interesting I inserted it on top of the artist arms
to make it look appealing but also to relate to the song as the song is about gym , power and motivation.

I also added a barcode in the back cover because often many artist include barcode within thier cd covers.

This is my final edit of the back cover of my Digi Pack, I have included the tittle 'PMG productions' at the
top of my back cover.

Creating And Editing Digi Pack Front Cover

For my Digi Pack I will have the main picture of my artist 'Raver' sitting down on the chair pointing at the viewer, I will then incoperate some effects around the artists muscles and design a logo for the music group to put within the front cover of my Digi Pack. .The program I will be using to edit the picture which I took of my artist will be 'Adobe Photo Shop CS3 ' I will then createthe texts and add effects such as inner shadows, bevel and emboss and strokes to create a 3D wording on the front cover of my Digi Pack, I will then adjust the brightness and contrast of the image to make it look professional.

Below I will show a step by step creation of my Digi Pack:

Original Image I took using a CANON HD
(High Definition) Picture camera

I Used the brush tool to draw around the image
of my artist to connote the enegertic power through my
Digi Pack.

I Inserted the name of the group just above the artist arms using the text tool.

For the background image I used the Lens flare tool to make it look like
a abstract style design i then used the rub and lens blur tool to make it look like the light is
glowing from his arms.

To insert the logo of the artist group I opened up a blank PNG file document
with a new layer background of the colour black, I then used the text tool to write the logo down.
After this process, within the program I used the clone tool to put the image i had created onto my front cover of the Digi Pack

Conventions Of A Music Video

On the 15th of November in my media lesson Ms Flavell my media teacher had  asked us to find a video that we believed was similar to the intentions of our own music video. The song is called  ’Hustle Hard '  by Abel Miller, the video has not got many conventions typical of a real music video, however It has a mix between as live and narrative, we see this in many videos because it keeps viewers interested and entertained.

This video has clear and similar features which my production will have because it is a song about power and  motivation. Another convention seen in many music videos is emotions to convey a certain feeling that is presented throughout the video, another convention of music videos is the use of locations, in this particular video the gym  is the setting for a majority of the music video, it shows different situations taking place.

Photos For My Digi Pack

As I personally know my Artists, I have asked if I could arrange to meet with him to take pictures of the artists 'Raver' to put within my Digi Pack. He agreed to meet and conduct a a range of photos to put within my Digi Pack.

Below are some of the photos I took of My artist using a 'CANON HD ('High Definition') camera which I will put within my Digi Pack after I have edited them :

Synergy Notes

Having the overall theme of abstract and muscle wieghts allows me to have this, almost brand identity linked to the artist/Music Group.
This will  allow me to incorporate a similar theme and  background into my website, this means that when people go onto the website they will easily be able to tell that they are all part of the same overall marketing campaign.

Intentions For My Digipack

  • Front Cover - I will Have my artist  fully facing the viewer of the Digi Pack and have a the main artists of the group 'Raver' sitting down on a chair and pointing at the viewer of the Digipack with his muscles showing so that it could relate to the song I have chosen to do. As the song/album is called 'Gym Motivation' it makes it important for the artists to do this particular pose as it relates to the tittle of the song in which the pose connotes power.
  • Back panel - Within the back panel of my Digi pack I  want to put my artist's logo as the main focus of the back cover.
  • Fold in panel - Here I would like to place some images of scattered weights and logos of the music group.
  • Inner panel 1 - Possibly a picture of the Music Group.
  • Inner panel 2 - The track-list of the album because the inner panel 2 is situated right in the middle so I think the track-list is best placed here in between the picture of the artist and the disk tray.
  • CD tray - Where the artists Cd is placed.
